Robert Beers’s 2025 Plan: $21 Wage, Full Pensions, Resilient First Responders

Robert Beers’s Comprehensive Platform — Built for Everyone in District 1

Robert Beers is fighting for real progress—not just for the wealthy, but for workers, families, veterans, first responders, students, and rural communities. Here's how he plans to deliver:

💵 1. $21 Minimum Wage + Annual Cost-of-Living Raises

  • Full-time work must pay a dignified wage—starting at $21/hr and automatically adjusted yearly for inflation.

  • Eliminates all sub-minimum pay for tipped, disabled, and youth workers.

🛡️ 2. Stronger Safety Net & Healthcare Affordability

  • Remove burdensome SNAP and unemployment requirements; auto-trigger benefits in recessions.

  • Expand paid family and sick leave (e.g. FAMILY Act).

  • Cap prescription drug costs and expand Medicaid, particularly in rural areas.

🚆 3. Infrastructure & Green Economy

  • Deploy full funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act: broadband, clean water, roads, transit.

  • Invest in reforestation, brownfield cleanup, and resilient infrastructure.

  • Ramp up clean-energy tax credits and launch federal green job programs with a just transition.

🎓 4. Future-Ready Education

  • Triple STEM funding, especially in underserved areas.

  • Launch nationwide career/technical education and apprenticeship pipelines.

  • Incentivize teachers to serve in rural districts.

  • Protect Pell Grants and FAFSA access to ensure affordable higher education.

🛡️ 5. Military: Respect & Security

  • Advocate for a significant raise above the current 4–14% increase to close wage gaps.

  • Guarantee full pensions for combat veterans and service members killed in war or terror.

  • Push for full 'concurrent receipt' of military and VA disability pay.

  • Support modernization of military assets: Columbia-class subs, B-21 bombers, missile defense.*

🚒 6. First Responders: Training, Support & Rights

  • Equal federal training and advanced equipment for all departments, whether paid or volunteer.

  • Mandatory national certifications funded via public–private partnerships.

  • Full insurance & care packages for volunteers, and protections guaranteeing they won’t be penalized by employers for missing work.

  • Allow personnel living within 15 miles to respond to emergencies without loss of job or pay.

  • Employers are barred from penalizing or terminating responders who leave for a call.

🌍 7. Environmental & Climate Resilience

  • Reinstate and expand clean-energy incentives in wind, solar, hydrogen, and carbon capture.

  • Fund community resilience programs—floods, wildfires, extreme heat.

  • Support local and rural initiatives that clean water and create green jobs.

🏛️ 8. Oversight, Accountable Governance

  • Advance the Congressional Oversight Protection Act: no federal or state funds for agencies that block oversight.

  • Push for ethics reform and transparent budgeting to ensure your tax dollars are spent responsibly.

Congressional Oversight Protection Act: Stop Access Blocks

Transparency Over Tyranny: A New Bill to Protect Congressional Oversight

By Robert Beers, Candidate for U.S. Congress – South Carolina’s District 1

In America, our system of checks and balances was designed to prevent power from being abused—no matter who’s in the White House or what party holds the gavel. Yet in recent years, we’ve witnessed a troubling erosion of those checks. Democratic members of Congress have been denied access to federally funded facilities—whether it’s immigration detention centers, shuttered federal agencies, or private prisons paid for with your tax dollars.

This is unacceptable.

These aren’t private institutions. They’re publicly funded, and when Congress is blocked from entering, it isn’t just a denial of access—it’s a denial of accountability to the American people.

🏛 Why This Bill Matters

Congress has the constitutional duty to control the purse strings. That means lawmakers not only authorize federal spending—they also have a right and a responsibility to ensure that money is being spent wisely, ethically, and effectively.

If a prison receives federal funds, if a contractor is paid with taxpayer dollars, or if an agency operates under a congressional budget, then lawmakers have the right to inspect it. When that access is denied, we lose transparency—and open the door to abuse, corruption, and waste.

✍️ Introducing the Congressional Oversight Protection Act

To protect public accountability, I am proposing the Congressional Oversight Protection Act—a bill designed to make sure no one can block a sitting member of Congress from overseeing how your money is spent.

📜 The Bill Would:

  • Mandate Immediate Access to all federally funded entities for any member of Congress performing oversight duties.

  • Enforce Bipartisan Transparency, applying to members of any party—because oversight is not a partisan issue.

  • Impose Immediate Consequences on federal employees who deny access, including termination and possible legal consequences.

  • Bar Funding to State Entities that block access, with potential criminal charges for obstruction and immediate suspension of federal funds.

🔍 This Isn’t About Party—It’s About Principles

This is not a Republican issue. This is not a Democratic issue.

This is a constitutional issue.

When lawmakers—no matter their party—are barred from entering facilities that receive public money, it erodes our ability to serve you. It strips you, the taxpayer, of your right to know where your money is going and whether it’s being used responsibly.

🤝 Why Every Voter Should Support This

Whether you’re a conservative who believes in limited, accountable government—or a progressive who wants to ensure funds are used justly—this bill protects your interests.

  • It ensures your tax dollars aren’t being wasted in secret.

  • It protects whistleblowers and reformers in Congress who dare to ask hard questions.

  • It ensures no administration can silence oversight.

🗳 Let’s Make Government Work—for You

As your representative, I will fight to make this bill law. I will fight to ensure that no agency, no contractor, and no facility funded by you can hide behind bureaucracy or partisan politics to avoid answering the most basic question:
What are you doing with our money?

It’s time to put integrity back into our institutions—and power back into the hands of the people.

📢 Join the Movement

Let’s take a stand together for transparency, for truth, and for accountability—because that’s how we make America great again for all of us.

📝 Draft Blog Post (for campaign site)

Title: “End the War on Marijuana: A Smarter, Safer, Stronger America”

Body:

Every year, America spends billions enforcing marijuana prohibition — money that should be used for schools, healthcare, or infrastructure. Instead, we funnel it into policing, courts, and prisons.

Meanwhile, states with legal cannabis programs brought in $4.2 billion in tax revenue in 2023 alone. California raked in $1.1 billion; Colorado and Washington have accrued more than $6.5 billion since legalization began jeffries.house.gov+1prisonpolicy.org+1politico.com+2investopedia.com+2en.wikipedia.org+2.

Beyond revenue, legalization creates jobs — supporting nearly 100 000 workers, from farmers to pharmacists moritzlaw.osu.edu+15investopedia.com+15mpp.org+15. It also dismantles dangerous black markets and adds consumer protections.

Most of all, legalization upholds fairness. The War on Drugs has disproportionately harmed Black and brown communities. Legal markets and tax-funded fairness programs offer real remedies.

It’s time to shift from criminalization to common sense. Tax cannabis — don’t chase it. The money we waste chasing “pot smokers” could instead fix roads, fund schools, bolster veterans’ services, and more.

Let’s redirect those billions back to our communities. End marijuana prohibition — and invest in America’s future.
